



Baijayant 'Jay' Panda
Baijayant “Jay” Panda is the National Vice-President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a five-time Member of Parliament, having served two terms in the Rajya Sabha (2000, 2006) and three in the Lok Sabha (2009, 2014, 2024) from Kendrapada, Odisha. He currently serves as Chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings and is a member of the Committee on Commerce, the Lok Sabha Business Advisory Committee, and the Joint Parliamentary Committee on One Nation, One Election. He also chaired the Select Committees on the Income Tax Bill, 2025, and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Widely regarded as one of the BJP’s key strategists, he has served as the party in-charge for Assam, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, and successfully managed election campaigns in Assam and Delhi. As part of Operation Sindoor, he led India’s high-level parliamentary delegation to West Asia and the Gulf, advancing the country’s diplomatic outreach in the region. Before entering public life, Jay Panda earned a degree in Engineering and Management from Michigan Technological University and built a successful corporate career. He founded the Young Parliamentarians Forum and chaired the India–USA Forum of Parliamentarians for fifteen years, while also participating in numerous Track-II dialogues with major global powers, including the United States, China, and Japan. A committed advocate of social causes, he has been associated with the Citizens’ Alliance Against Malnutrition since 2007 and actively promotes digital safety for children. His contributions also include serving on the BJP National Core Group on Article 370 and chairing the High-Level Expert Committee on restructuring the NCC. In recognition of his parliamentary contributions, he received the Bharat Asmita National Award for Best Parliamentary Practices in 2008. Jay Panda is the author of Lutyens’ Maverick, a prolific columnist, and a regular television commentator on foreign policy, governance, and economic development. Beyond public life, he is an avid aviator with a Private Pilot’s License for helicopters and an enthusiast of adventure sports such as skydiving and bungee jumping.

A graduate of Michigan Technological University with a degree in Engineering and Management, he worked in the corporate sector before joining politics. He served as Convener of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF), Chairman of the India-USA Forum of Parliamentarians for fifteen years, and led multi-party Track-II dialogues on more than fifty occasions.
Additionally, he was a member of the BJP National Core Group regarding Article 370 and chaired the High-Level Expert Committee for restructuring the National Cadet Corps (NCC). In 2008, he was awarded the Bharat Asmita National Award for best parliamentary practices. He is the author of the book Lutyens’ Maverick, frequently contributes op-eds to major newspapers, and is an avid aviator holding a Private Pilot’s License for helicopters.
